Song Premiere: Sideline “I’ll Always Be A Gypsy”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Sideline’s song “I’ll Always Be A Gypsy” from their forthcoming album Ups, Downs, and No Name Towns, due to be released on September 17.  The album was produced by Sideline, and recorded, mixed and mastered by Van Atkins at Crossroads Studios, Arden, NC.

“I’ll Always Be A Gypsy” is Steve Dilling on banjo and vocals; Jason Moore on bass; Skip Cherryholmes on guitar; Zack Arnold on mandolin and vocals; Jacob Greer on guitar and vocals; and Jamie Harper on fiddle.  This song possesses a mysterious universality within its story of a soul born to ramble.  And the down-home bluegrass arrangement by Sideline brings the feeling home.

“I’ll Always Be A Gypsy” is a tune about a carefree soul that travels the world to experience different forms of living. He comes to realize that traveling is in his blood, and is content to live life that way. This song really speaks personally to Sideline as a band, as well as our album theme Ups, Downs and No Name Towns. The life of a traveling musician takes a lot of turns, and can bring so much adventure. It can also bring much heartache and sacrifice, but when it’s in your blood you just can’t help but answer the call. When Ronnie Bowman sent us this song I really feel that this is what spoke to the most to me.

The rest of it just fell into place. — Skip Cherryholmes
