Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of the Delevantes’ song “Little By Little” from their forthcoming album A Thousand Turns. A Thousand Turns was produced by The Delevantes, Garry Tallent and Dave Coleman; mixed by Bill Schnee at Schnaze; and mastered by Sangwook Sunny Nam at Jacob’s Well Mastering.
“Little By Little” is Bob Delevante on vocals, guitar, harmonica, harmonium, penny whistle, and hand saw; Mike Delevante on vocals, lead 6 and 12-string guitar; Garry Tallent on bass and rhythm guitar; Bryan Owings on drums and percussion; Dave Coleman on guitar, keyboards, and pedal steel; Jody Nardone on piano and keyboards; and John Painter on saxophone and trumpet.
The video is riveting footage of is the Delevantes ft. Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Brady Blade and Daryl Johnson of Spyboy, Steve and Justin Earle, Southside Johnny, Garry Tallent, Max Weinberg and John Noreen. Watch and enjoy the showcase with travel footage too! And it’s a sure bet you’ll enjoy the easy, timeless, relatable songwriting of the Delevantes too.
When our first records came out we toured and played shows throughout Europe and the US either by ourselves or with some of our favorite artists: Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris in Europe, John Prine, Southside Johnny and Levon Helm in the US. Some of these shows we played acoustic, and some were with a band, featuring drummer Bryan Owings, steel player John Noreen and bassist Scott Yoder.
Introduced by the producer, Mike had met his wife on their second video shoot for ‘Driving at Night’ (she’s actually in that video for a brief second: look for the hippie with the headband and guitar) A videographer and collector of vintage 8mm and Super 8 cameras, Julie joined them on a few of the tours. Packed with some of her trusty old cameras, she documented performances as well as all the moments in between.
From our soon to be released album ‘A Thousand Turns’, this short film is set to the first single ‘Little By Little’ and only uses about 10% of the total film taken during those years. (more videos to come!) Highlights include Steve Earle with his son Justin taking us on tours of landmarks like Tower of London and Abbey Road. Steve knew more about these landmarks than any tour guide. And backstage with Emmy’s band and crew with Buddy Miller, Brady Blade, Daryl Johnson and Phil Kaufman….after every show we’d find the local club and try to take over the stage if they’d let us.
Planes, trains and automobiles, airports and museums, and just walking through the streets for an hour before the next flight. From Cleveland to London, Zagreb in Croatia to Ljubljana, Slovenia. 14 countries, 35 cities. Looking back it tells a great story of life on the road with our friends and musical heroes. — Mike and Bob Delevante
