Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Edwin’s song “Heart Watered Down” from their album West. West was written by Jacob Boll, produced by Matthew Boll, mixed by Zach Hanson, and mastered by Huntley Miller.

“Heart Watered Down” is Jacob Boll on vocals and guitars; Matthew Boll on guitar and background vocals, Sean Carey on drums and Bobby Lord on synth.

The video was filmed and edited by Robert Ingraham.  Fans of hushed introspective songwriting will be over the moon at this find.  Folk and Americana music lovers, try this new one by Edwin.

“Heart Watered Down” was the last song I wrote for our new album West. I had been playing the same guitar line over and over for months, struggling to find any kind of melody or subject. At the beginning of quarantine I went up to Big Bear, CA to a friend’s cabin and one day all the lyrics just kind of poured out of me. I had been listening to a lot of Dylan and M. Ward and wanted to write in a more narrative style where it was just verse after verse after verse. I was writing it at a time when I didn’t quite understand myself or my place in the world, and was reading through all these philosophy books (Watts, Campbell, Rohr). I was searching for a sort of clarity: that I could love someone else more fully if I actually loved myself better. We shot the video on a rooftop in LA. We have been experimenting with ways to do live performance after a year without any. In the video, we used this live performance of “Heart Watered Down” and then mixed in elements from the studio track to create a sort of hybrid video. -Jacob Boll
