Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Krista Shows’s cover of Neil Young’s song “Love is a Rose,” from her new EP Quarantine Covers that’s available when you pre-order the new vinyl version of her 2020 release Prone to Wander (Dial Back Sound and Frumabuv Records). Quarantine Covers was recorded at home by Krista Shows and Scott Sharpe, mixed and mastered by Bronson Tew who was assisted by Schaefer Llana at Dial Back Sound, Water Valley, MS.
The album bundled with the free EP is available now during the pre-order as a first pressing of the record on 140g black vinyl which will ship on 4/30/2021.
“Love is a Rose” is Krista Shows on vocals and guitar, and Scott Sharpe guitar and steel. Neil Young won our hearts with his simple authenticity and Krista Shows enriches his intent with a depth of vocal complexity over whimsical guitars.
I’ve always loved Neil Young, but chose to record “Love is a Rose” because of its message. To me, it simply says that you’ll find your best life when you free yourself from attachment, free yourself from outcome or an expectation.
