Americana Highways is pleased to present this song premiere of Grant Nesmith’s “Another Day” from his forthcoming album Dreams of the Coast. The project was recorded and produced by Ed Dennis at Atlantic Coast Recording, Myrtle Beach, SC and mastered by Amy Dragon at Telegraph Mastering, Portland, OR. Gene Elders played fiddle on this song. He has played with George Strait since the mid-80s. Interestingly as well, Gene and the album’s producer Ed Dennis were in a band together in the 70s. This is the first time they have collaborated together since.
“Another Day” is Grant Nesmith on vocals, acoustic guitar, and bass; Ed Dennis on pedal steel, electric guitar, and harmony vocals; Gene Elders on fiddle; Ken Thomas on drums and tambourine; and Bruce James on harmony vocals.
The lively fiddle punctuates with emphasis throughout the song of palpable longing and the sorrows of mortality by Grant Nesmith. Keep an eye out for this album.
“Another Day” is about the realization that Father Time waits for no one. I recently moved back into the neighborhood that I grew up in. Most of the people who lived there before have either moved out or passed away. All the sights and sounds are the same, but everyone’s gone. It seems like just yesterday when I was a dirty little kid playing ball and riding bikes with the neighborhood crew. Now I’m 30 with a Wife and Daughter of my own and it happened in the blink of an eye. — Grant Nesmith
