Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Johnny Nicholas‘s song “Guadalupe’s prayer” from his recently released album Mistaken Identity (Valcour Records).  Mistaken Identity was produced, recorded and mixed by Joel Savoy; and mastered by Joe Gastwirt Mastering.  Mistaken Identity includes Johnny Nicholas on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, resonator guitar, piano, harmonica, and mandocello; Scrappy Jud Newcomb on acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin and vocals; Chris Maresh on electric and upright bass, and vocals; and John Chipman on drums and percussion, Kurdish Frame Drum and vocals.

The video was directed and edited by Audrey Billups; with art drection by Marguerite Mannix; and Isa Garcia as “Lady Guadalupe.” It was filmed on location at Crab Apple Creek in  Fredericksburg, TX and at the Guadalupe River in Ingram, TX.  Recounting the tale of Lady Guadalupe, Johnny Nicholas turns his fluid Americana style into empowerment and hope.  It’s a very optimistic offering.

This song is about hope, faith, redemption and the ongoing struggle of the people to be free. Audrey Billups and her crew did a brilliant job of manifesting the music and its allegorical vision in this beautiful video! — Johnny Nicholas
