Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere video of Mighty Joe Castro and the Gravamen’s song “Come On Angels,” the title track from their recent release.  Come on Angels  was recorded at Miner Street Recordings, produced by Brian McTear, engineered and mixed by Matt Poirer, and mastered by Ryan Schwabe.  “Come on Angels” is Mighty Joe Castro on lead vocals and guitar; Dallas on drums; H00V3R on doghouse bass and backing vocals; and Mike Stingle on guitar and backing vocals.

The video was directed, designed and animated by Mighty Joe Castro.  Photography in the video is by David Norburt, Brian Wild, Noah Gabriel, Jimmy Faber, Fear the Skull Photography, Ric Kolenda, Mighty Joe Castro & Dave Perry.  Get your 60’s rock ‘n roll nostalgia hat on, pull up a chair and check this out.  The video footage is a mirror image of the song.  With Come on Angels, Mighty Joe Castro has found an iconic way to entertain us this summer.

Due to the COVID19 quarantine, we didn’t have the option of filming a traditional music performance video. I’ve always been fascinated by iconic movie title sequences, especially from the 1960s and 70s – artists like Saul Bass, Pablo Ferro, Sandy Dvore. Films like Charade, Woman of Straw, Anatomy of a Murder, Gidget, It’s a Mad Mad World – and later films like Catch Me If You Can. So I decided to put together a lyric video that paid homage to that style. I had never used After Effects before, so the whole thing was done on the fly, a total DIY “learn as you go” experience. I hope you dig it.” – Joe Castro
