Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Dallas Burrow’s video “Its About Time” from his recent album Southern Wind, which was produced by Eric McConnell and mixed by Chad Brown. The album band is Dallas Burrow on vocals and guitar, “Cousin” Kenny Vaughan on guitar, Dave Roe on bass, Pete Abbott on drums, Larry Chaney on guitar, Sierra Ferrell on vocal harmonies, Frank Rische on guitars, Chris Scruggs on lap steel guitar, and Billy Contreras on fiddle.
In a bait-and-switch songwriting style, Burrow has penned a story about the poignancy of letting go of someone you love. Southern Wind is a collection of robust gales of songwriting, driving strong with heavyweight musicians. The video is alluring footage of Burrow and the band onstage with cruise ship landscapes, and was directed by David Graham and Tanner Redman of Truthful Sessions.
On the surface, ‘It’s About Time’ sounds like a love song. It’s a sweet, simple, kind of throwback style tune. But give it a closer listen and it’s actually the story of letting someone go, and the freedom that comes with that. I had been in and out of a rocky relationship and I finally realized that if I really loved this person, it was time to let them go. I co-wrote ‘It’s About Time’ several years ago with a Canadian violinist by the name of Jamie Desautels who had played with Pavarotti and David Byrne and all kinds of people. During that time I was doing my best to cope with it all; the loss, the pain and the repercussions of hard living. — Dallas Burrow
