Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Star Four’s “(Don’t Go Back To) Arizona” from their self-titled EP due out on July 19. Star Four was recorded by Alex Wernquest (Basement Floods Records), produced and mixed by Maxwell Griffith with additional engineering, mixing and production by Torna. “(Don’t Go Back to) Arizona” is Will Evans on vocals & bass, Delaney Parker on vocals, Charles Schlinkert on drums & percussion, and Nick Cianci on lead guitar.
“Don’t go back to Arizona and pretend that it’s enough…” the lyrical protagonist begs his newfound lover to stay, in a song that rings particularly true with the ideal of summertime romance in the air. Star Four will get your blood flowing as it rocks with a touch of indie nostalgia.
I started sketching Arizona over a few hour-long subway rides to and from my job serving pizza in Hell’s Kitchen right after I graduated from college. We fleshed it out during a few shows at the closest bar in Queens when we could finally find a night all of us had off. I was doing all I could to feel like I was still making music while watching friend after friend bail back home to recover and recoup after finding themselves in similar situations. One of those friends was especially dear to me and they needed out more than anyone. — Will Evans
