Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways presents this song premiere of Amanda Anne Platt’s “Low Road” from her upcoming release Live at the Grey Eagle, due on May 24th. Live at the Grey Eagle was produced by Amanda Anne Platt, engineered and mixed by Clay Miller and Van Atkins at Crossroads Studios in Arden, NC. “Low Road” is Amanda Anne Platt on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Matt Smith on electric guitar, Evan Martin on keys, Andrew Platt on electric guitar, Josh Milligan on drums and harmony vocals; and Rick Cooper on bass.

Full of ambience and warm crowd support, Live at the Grey Eagle is a moving rich musical offering.  “Low Road” highlights the open sorrowful emotion in Platt’s vocals as the instruments wind and envelop the message.

For me, the low road is the road which I think the majority of artists travel — no private jets or giant buses, no sold out arena tours. It’s a road with many highs and lows, moments of glory and moments of crippling self doubt. Honestly, it’s mostly driving. I get a lot of lyric ideas when we’re on a long drive and everyone has stopped talking. I think I was having a moment where I was feeling vulnerable and tired and just really wishing I could win the lottery so all the ends would meet a little easier, and then I remembered some really kind friends we had spent time with the night before, and I started to think about all the weird and wonderful stories I wouldn’t have if everything was easy all the time. And I started singing this song to myself. — Amanda Anne Platt
