Album Premiere: Andy Hughes and the Mighty Few “Songs For Sunday”

Album Premieres Listen & Watch

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of the upcoming release Songs for Sunday by Andy Hughes and the Mighty Few. The Mighty Few are Joe Gantzer on acoustic guitar, bass, keys, ukulele, and electric guitar; Ben Rohde on drums and percussion and Rick Kreuziger on pedal steel guitar; Josh Rabie is on fiddle on several songs too. Recorded and mixed by Brett Huus and Joe Gantzer at Sound Station Audio in La Crosse, WI, the album was produced by Joe Gantzer, and will be available March 22nd.

Songs for Sunday taps into the everyday desperation of human experience, and positively transports you to a lazy Sunday, reflective vibe.  “Little Miss America” laments the best of American ideals falling by the wayside. “Tell My Darlin'” is a tale of anguish, and “Old Shiny Thing” is soothing pedal steel in a song about wedding rings and heroes. “Sunday Blues” accurately evokes a lazy Sunday rhythm.

Songs for Sunday is a very personal record for me. I’m really lucky to have my band, The Mighty Few with me on this album. Those guys are some of the best players I know and I think the overall sound of this record compared to the first shines because we formed a tight unit. Joe Gantzer’s (Producer) vision is the glue for sure!  The album continues to explore internal demons faced by ordinary folks. Those are the things that are most important to me when I sit down to write songs. We worked on this for over a year and we didn’t take any shortcuts. We waited until we thought each piece was exactly how we wanted it and that shows. Incredibly excited to share this with the world — Andy Hughes
