Album Premiere: Buffalo Wabs and the Price Hill Hustle’s “Stranger in the Alps”

Album Premieres Listen & Watch

Americana Highways is honored to present this premiere of Buffalo Wabs & the Price Hill Hustle’s new album Stranger in the Alps, available March 15th The album features Matt Wabnitz — “Buffalo Wabs” — on guitar and vocals; Casey Campbell — “The Deacon” — on percussion and vocals; Scott Risner — “Kentucky Waterfall” — on mandolin and banjo, resophonic guitar, guitar and harmony vocals; and Bill Baldock –“Bullseye Bill” — on bass and vocals. Special guests on the album are Joe Macheret on fiddle and John K. Victor on harmonica.

The musicianship here is absolutely excellent.  It’s more than excellent — these cats are tight, clear, and their fingers fly like lightning over the strings.  “Ain’t no need to say ‘I love you’ while you’re sayin’ the words ‘good-bye'” touts self-preservation in “Ain’t No Need.” And then there are irresistible tribal “uh huh” vocal chants on “Stewball”: “If you bet on Stewball, you might win.”  “Long Gone (from Bowling Green)” is a bluegrass over a fast tempo rhythm;  in “The Wind” you’ll be blown all around at a swinging pace: “the wind can stop you where you stand.” We predict Stranger In The Alps will be in top rotation this year; give it a listen and see.

This album explores the first co-writing the band has undertaken,” says Campbell.  “And through that collaborative process we’re beginning to find more complex voices, more adventurous tunes that bridge our influences even more than before.
