Watch: Video Premiere of Cary Morin’s Fingerstyle “When I Rise,” the Title Track From Upcoming Album

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Cary Morin’s “When I Rise,” the title track from his upcoming album.  After the multiple awards his 2016 Cradle to the Grave garnered, this album is anticipated to be something special as well.

In a world of formulaic imitations, Morin’s style of guitar playing is a fascinating listen, as he plays with concepts of what it means to rise early in the morning.  It may be to work hard, or it may be a metaphorical uprising, you’ll have wait to find out it’s a little of both.  Sit back and enjoy some of the most amazing finger-style guitar you’ll ever hear.

“When I Rise” is the result of listening to music with friends. A few years ago, I was hanging out in Italy with my good friend Sebastiano Lillo (Italy’s finest acoustic slide guitarist) when he played me some songs from the Alan Lomax field recordings of Mississippi Prison songs of the 1930’s. The first line from one of these songs inspired melodies, images, words, and ultimately the title cut to this album. — Cary Morin
