Video Premiere: Jesse Lacy/“Spring Owls”’ “Nobody Gives It Time” Provides Sanctuary

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways presents the video premiere of Jesse Lacy, aka Spring Owls’, “Nobody Gives It Time,” from his First Steps album.  The video features Lacy on guitar and vocals with Ginger Curry on back up vocals and was recorded by Tom Weikert and mixed & mastered by Rich Morpurgo at Midwest Audio Recording.  The video was shot by Cory Harbour & Tom Weikert and edited by Weikert as well.

With lines like: “I want to wake up and spin into your bouquet of curls.  But everybody’s rolling up the street to find that next connection ..  nobody wants to give it time,”  Lacy laments the fast pace and hustle of contemporary life.  The acoustics and harmonies of this song successfully provide us with a safe haven to slow down and find sanctuary, while the slow, deliberate visuals emphasize the message.  Added to the allure is the backdrop setting in an abandoned space observatory with its incredibly peaceful wooden structures.

“Nobody Gives It Time” was inspired by the genuine and vulnerable album ‘Strict Joy’ by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (The Swell Season).  Once I stepped in the Abandoned Space Observatory and heard the acoustics, I knew we had to record there. A month later we brought a battery powered mixer, some mics, and some cameras to video record the live #RemoteRecording in Bloomington, IN. — Jesse Lacy
