Listen & Watch Song Premieres
Americana Highways is pleased to present you with a premiere of Amy Wilcox’ song “Somebody,” from her upcoming EP West, (Blue Elan Records) due out in 2019, produced by Cass Dillon (Billy Joel).  This single will be released tomorow, but you can hear it here today!
Wilcox earned a residency at Nashville’s 3rd and Linsley; and has opened for country artists like Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton.  She also appeared on A & E’s television series “Crazy Hearts: Nashville” prior to her move to Los Angeles.
In this song, “Somebody,” Wilcox sings “you already know you got this on your own; you don’t need nobody to be somebody,” and turns our attention to sturdy themes of self-reliance.  With producer Cass Dillon working in some magic on guitar and banjo, Tommy Eichmann on keys, and rhythm section Dillon (on bass) and John Badamo on drums, all behind Wilcox’s sunny vocal tracks, this song is a catchy uplifting personal mantra.

“Somebody” was written as a reminder to myself, a song I needed to hear. Living in the age of social media, with the ability to constantly compare yourself to others and the struggle to measure up, can be very taxing. “Somebody” is a reminder to trust your own worth and your own happiness, outside of anyone else’s opinion. You don’t need anyone else’s approval to be your best self. We all individually have so much to offer, and we need to remember that life’s not a competition, it’s an amazing journey, and this song is part of mine.
