It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since Lucinda Williams’ Car Wheels On A Gravel Road was released. Something like that shouldn’t go unnoticed, given the extent of that album’s influence. And luckily, it hasn’t. It was announced today that Williams has scheduled a tour this fall to commemorate the success of that album, which was one of the most indisputably influential albums on Americana music.
At the time, the album won a GRAMMY for best contemporary folk album, and has been listed as number 304 of the 500 most influential albums of all time by Rolling Stone.
Williams’ band Buick 6 will be backing her on the celebratory tour (guitarist Stuart Mathis, with drummer Butch Norton and David Sutton on bass). They will be performing the legendary album in its entirety each night.
