Riding the Americana Highway – Oct 15 2026

Riding the Americana Highway is a twice-monthly journey through the music, artists, and stories that make up the world of Americana music.

Along the way, we will listen to new releases from established performers as well as emerging artists who deserve to be heard. We’ll also revisit the landmark albums, influential musicians, and unforgettable songs that helped shape Americana into what it is today. In the “A Look Back” segment, we will play a few tracks from a classic Americana record and tell the story behind it.

But the journey won’t stop with the familiar names. We’ll get off the main roads to uncover hidden gems, overlooked recordings, independent artists, and music being made in unexpected places. You’ll hear the stories behind the songs, learn more about the people who create them, and occasionally hear directly from the artists themselves.

Riding the Americana Highway is for longtime fans and for listeners who are just beginning to explore the genre. Whether you already know every mile of this musical landscape or you’re looking for a new road to follow, I hope there will always be something waiting around the next bend.

Each show will be guided by curiosity, a respect for the music’s history, and plenty of enthusiasm for what lies ahead. Join your host, Bill Herman, for a ride along the highways and back roads of the all the great musical traditions that make up Americana Music. So buckle up, turn it up, and come along for the ride. There’s a lot of great music out there, and every road has a story. Let’s hit the highway together.
