Ethan Setiawan and Fine Ground “Ships at Sea”
Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Ethan Setiawan’s song “Ships at Sea” from his forthcoming album Little Storms, which is set for release on Oct. 2 via Adhyaropa Records. The album was produced by Ethan Setiawan, recorded by Dan Cardinal at Dimension Sound Studios, mixed by Ethan Setiawan, and mastered by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering.
“Ships at Sea” is Ethan Setiawan on mandolin and vocals; Julian Pinelli on fiddle; BB Bowness on banjo and vocals; Alex Rubin on guitar and vocals; and Brittany Karlson on bass. This song was written by Basset (Sam Clark & Yasmine Shelton).
As Ethan tells us about the song: “I first heard the Toronto-based Basset at a music conference, and was immediately struck by their beautiful writing and playing. We’ve run into each other lots over the years at this point and this waltz, “Ships At Sea,” is so evocative and atmospheric. It felt like a great foil to the frenetic nature of a lot of bluegrass. Thanks so much to these guys for letting me record their song!”
This video of the band playing in front of a brightly painted (and alluring) brick building was filmed & edited by Louise Bichan. It’s gentle and quite beautifully played.
