Noah Smith No Strangers After All
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Noah Smith’s new album No Strangers After All. The album was produced by Michael James and Noah Smith, engineered by John McGuire and Noah Smith, and mixed and mastered by Michael James. One song was also co-produced by Bri Sailors.
Musicians on the EP are Noah Smith on vocals, acoustic guitar, and drums; John McGuire and Sol Philcox on electric guitar; Grady Saxman on drums; Caileen Tallant on backing vocals, B3 organ and keys; Shannon Fuller on bass; Bronnie on vocals; Bri Sailors on acoustic guitar; Ben Sailors on electric guitar; Josh Baylock on keys; Matthew Douglas Simpson on electric guitar and harmony vocals; Jon Burlew on drums; Sol Philcox-Littlefield on electric guitar and dobro; Chelsey Parker on fiddle; Matthew Douglas Simpson on electric guitar and background vocals; and Zak McCarthy on drums.
Noah shared his perspective on the album, “I think No Strangers After All is the closest I’ve ever come to explaining why I’ve spent my life doing this. I’ve been on the road for years chasing songs, playing rooms where I knew everybody and rooms where I knew nobody, and somewhere along the way I realized the music was doing something bigger than I understood. Strangers became familiar faces. Fans became friends. Towns thousands of miles from home started feeling like home. People carried my songs into their homes, marriages, tattoos, losses, late nights, and lives and they carried their stories back to me too.
“This record feels like the thesis statement for everything I’ve been trying to build as an artist. Musically, it’s where I want to go: bigger, louder, more alive, but still rooted in real stories and real people. Personally, it’s the realization that success for me was never just about how many people I could get in a room. It’s about what happens when we’re all finally in that room together.
“I’ve spent a lot of my life thinking I was traveling farther away from home. Maybe I was actually just discovering how big home could be. That’s what this song means to me. Maybe after all these miles, all these shows, all these conversations, and all these songs we’re no strangers after all.”
The album is easygoing heartland music, with swells of pedal steels and rising choruses. Song about following your love to the ends of the earth, traveling and understanding that deep down we are all connected, all set to expansive soaring arrangements.
