Rita Bliss “All My Days”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Rita Bliss’ song “All My Days” from her forthcoming album One More Winter, which is set for release on October 2. The album was produced by Dom Fisher and Rita Bliss; engineered and mixed by Patrick Herzfeld at Signal Hill Recording in Austin, Texas; and mastered by Cris Burns. This song will be available on August 7.
“All My Days” is Rita Bliss on vocals and banjo; Dom Fisher on guitar and bass; Jimmie Scott Calhoun on vocal harmonies; Noah Jeffries on fiddle; and Billy Bright on mandolin.
Rita tells us about the song, “This song is a celebration of a stage of love that comes after “first sight,” a celebration of daily life and partnership. I wrote it for my wife in the spirit of playfulness and with a wink.”
The hallmark of a great traditional-based folk song is the ability to produce smiles in the audience immediately, while also holding the complex musical context steady. Rita Bliss walks this line with poise that makes it look easy. Cute and simple lines like “you came along in your green t-shit and now we’re out here planing in a little garden digging up the dirt, give me that love and a little bit of hot sauce, show me some grace when I leave the coffee on way too long…” carry a sense of playfulness throughout.
