Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Laurelyn Dossett’s song “Glory Glory” from her forthcoming album How Many Moons. This album was produced and engineered by M.C. Taylor; and recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris Boerner. It was recorded at Overdub Lane and Dad’s Bar and Grill in Durham, NC.
“Glory Glory” is Laurelyn Dossett on vocals and guitar; M.C. Taylor on acoustic and electric guitars and mandolin; Sam Fribush on Hammond B3; Jason Sypher on bass; Nicholas Falk on drums and percussion; The Ramble on Big Creek on birds and water singing; and the chorus: Emilia, Rosalie and Sophia Catanoso; Sydney, Samantha, Ellen and Rebecca Dossett; Stephanie Parent; Lori Aument, Emmy and Ann Wade.
As Laurelyn tells us, “‘Glory Glory’ is a love song to my land in Stokes County, NC, a beautiful stretch of Big Creek right before it runs into the Dan River. Everything here makes music. ‘Glory Glory’ also provided my “way in” to making this record. It’s a song I started before I lived here; I stumbled across a draft, realized I had written my future, finished the song and knew it was time to make this record. Glory Glory is made out of trees and stones and birds and water and the voices of my beloveds — I even had three generations of the women in my family gather to sing the final chorus.”
