Patti Spadaro Band “Mystic Misfit”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere for the Patti Spadaro Band’s song “Mystic Misfit,” from her forthcoming album. It was produced by Patti Spadaro and Erick Kurtzrock; recorded, mixed and mastered by Eric Kurtzrock at Blue Door Recorders
“Mystic Misfit” is Patti Spadaro (songwriter) on guitars and vocals; Eric Kurtzrock on drums and percussion; Ryan Black on bass; and Cherylann Hawk on backing vocals.
As Patti tells us, about the song, “‘Mystic Misfit’ is an introspective song, about finding ways to connect to my heart, and finding a sense of centeredness and peace as I navigate life. Mystic Misfit has meanings on different levels. It is about being a bit of an outsider, and finding self acceptance. I don’t always feel like I fit in with the mainstream. As a woman lead guitarist in rock, blues and jamband genres, I’m very much a minority. But, I’ve learned to embrace my uniqueness and appreciate the things that make me stand out. The song is also about finding centeredness and balance in a chaotic world. I teach college courses in yoga, mindfulness and meditation. This song brings together my two worlds. I love to bring presence and mindfulness to my music. I love to “get in the zone” and jam, creating on the spot.
“For the video, we met just after dawn at Pittsburgh’s famous “Point” where 3 rivers come together. The early morning light is fantastic, shining through the bridge, and reflecting on the water. I take a
journey to the middle of the Point, with the city and park in the background. And from the center, I’m singing and playing my Paul Reed Smith guitar, and enjoying the serenity of the moment. Finding inspiration and feeling good. My hope is that people enjoy the song and it brings some light and inspiration into their world.”
This song has a touch of jazziness as Patti performs her version of the plea to meet her in the middle. An important sentiment now and always.
