Wayward Sparrow “Devil By My Side”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Wayward Sparrow’s song “Devil By My Side, the title track from his forthcoming EP Devil By My Side, which is set for release on June 26. The entire album was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Richard Clark, aka Wayward Sparrow.
Richard is the only performer on this song, on vocals and acoustic and electric guitars.
Richard told us a little about the video and the song, “This is the album’s title track, and it has a professionally shot video. Both paint a picture of bleak desperation, failure, lack of control, and lack of remorse: all things that stem from addiction. While I hope that the track feels lived in for listeners, none of this is actually a biography. For me to put a song on an album, I have to love it myself. There won’t be any filler on any of my releases (at least my perspective). I felt strongly that this track was the right one for the music video, the final single, and the proper song to premiere with Americana Highways. I want to personally thank Americana Highways for helping me promote this song, the album release, and for their endeavors to support independent artists.”
There’s a touch of darkness and a sense of foreboding in Wayward Sparrow’s songwriting and arrangements, you wouldn’t say it’s folksy or delicate. Not at all. This is impassioned and gripping songwriting.
