FINN “River Running Through”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of FINN’s song “River Running Through” from their forthcoming, and tenth, album Control, which is set for release on August 7. Control was recorded at Woodstock Studios in Melbourne, Australia; produced and engineered by Terry Hart; and mastered by Gavin Lurssen of Lurssen Mastering.
“River Running Through” is Mark Finn on vocals and guitars; Luke Finn on vocals and guitars; Terry Hart on multiple instruments; Jeremy Staples on bass; Daniel Angelini on drums; Mike Hart on backing vocals; Shane Reilly on mandolin; and Chris Commerford on guitars.
As Mark Finn tells us about the song, “The song really started with this idea of life as a journey you can never fully map out in advance — navigating twists, turns and changing currents while trying to keep your bearings through all the noise and distraction modern life throws at people. As the song developed, it slowly revealed something more personal about fatherhood too — the weight of trying to help guide someone you love through that uncertainty without trying to control who they become. At its heart, the song is really about giving someone the confidence to trust their instincts and lean into fate — to believe there may be a larger shape and meaning to things if you have the conviction to trust yourself and follow where life is leading you.”
This song is rootsy and upbeat shuffly goodness in a call to get away from the big city life. “Going down the Mississippi River / It’s getting late / Can you help me boy, sail away into the night.” Shake it and dance your way out of the rat race and into the expanses of nature with FINN.
