As Sherri Harding tells us about this song: “’Down In the Shoals’ is a tribute to all of the fabulous artists, musicians and songwriters who have come out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. We have been lucky enough to record there and work with many of these legends. Many of my vocal heroes have recorded in Muscle Shoals and It has always been a dream of mine to record there too. Such a cool vibe in The Shoals. A place where music really matters.
“Working with Kelvin Holly, who plays guitar and dobro on ‘Down In the Shoals,’ was something very special, too. He doesn’t just play guitar – he tells a story with every note. You can feel his authenticity throughout the track. And he’s a real gent too.”
There’s a certain mystique in this song that the video captures very clearly, with its advice to take to heart: “find something to believe in down in the shoals.” With Harding’s rich powerful vocal delivery, this song maintains a bluesy and lyrical depth.
