Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Gráinne Duffy’s song “Tragedy” from her forthcoming album What Am I Supposed To Do, due out May 22nd. This song was co-written by Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band) and Angelo Periglia. What Am I Supposed to Do was co-produced by Justin Stanley (Eric Clapton) and Marc Ford (The Black Crowes)

“Tragedy” is Gráinne Duffy on vocals; Paul Sherry on backing vocals and guitar; Marc Ford on lead guitar; Jorgen Carllson on bass (Gov’t Mule); Kenny Aronoff (Springsteen, Bob Dylan) on drums; and Peter Levin (Blind Boys of Alabama) on piano.

Gráinne Duffy tells us about the song: “This song is one of the two covers on this record. It is a cover of the wonderful Peter Wolf song. I heard this song by chance one evening when I was looking at an Instagram post by Keith Richards and it was all the old Stones wives together and I think this was the song on the post. I love the sentiment in this song. It could be considered a little melodramatic but I still think it has a nice ballad like feel and it works well as a duet with my husband, Paul Sherry who sings on it with me.”

“Tragedy” stirs together‘70s rock, blues and soul, adding a contemporary flair, and Gráinne Duffy and the top shelf band have created a really stellar musical experience with this song. Gráinne’s gritty vocals are Kim Carnes’ level superb.
