Tim Easton “Heaven and Hell”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Tim Easton’s song “Heaven and Hell” from his recently released album fIREHORSE, which was recorded at Club Road, produced by Kevin Nolan, engineered by Jessie Newport, mixed by Brad Jones, and mastered by Alex McCollough.
“Heaven and Hell” is Tim Easton on acoustic and electric guitars and vocals; Matt Nolan on drums and percussion; Tommy Scifres on bass and backing vocals; and Kevin Nolan on electric guitar, mandolin, and synth; with backing vocals by Jeremy Lister.
As Tim says about this song, “This may be the poppiest song I have ever had on one of my records. Of course, my pop and actual contemporary pop are two vastly different things. I wrote the song “Heaven & Hell” to help anybody who might be going through a hard time. In the video I suppose I am refering to America, which is certainly going through a difficult time, and I thank all of you who are helping each other.”
This song and its video are entertaining but also, underneath, a heartfelt plea for the cohesiveness of America. The video makes the point of the upheaval in a disarming way with Tim holding a wooden map of the good ol’ US of A. The map makes it out of the graveyard around town, upside down and back again, while Tim holds the whole country. “I’m gonna hold you through heaven and hell. We’ll hold each other until this mess is through.”
