TANASI “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of TANASI’s version of the George Harrison song “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)” from their forthcoming self-titled album which is set for release on May 8. The album was produced by TANASI, engineered and mixed by Billy Cardine, and mastered by Dave McNair.

“Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)” is Mary Lucey on banjo, bass, and vocals; Billy Cardine on dobro and Chaturangui; and Anya Hinkle on guitar and vocals.

As TANASI tells us, “We learned this George Harrison song to play at our dear friends’ wedding, and recognizing the need for as many songs about love as possible, pulled it into our repertoire. As a nod to Harrison-who helped introduce classical Indian instruments into pop music—Cardine plays the chaturangui, an Indian slide instrument, designed by his teacher, Debashish Bhattacharya. Cardine has performed with numerous Indian ensembles and continues integrating Indian and Appalachian roots music in innovative ways.”

The instant funkiness of the dobro and chaturangui sets this song up for instant success, and Mary and Anya’s vocals and harmonies blend in to create a truly ethereal result in this song that dovetail with George Harrison’s spiritual vibe. The song is truly beautiful inside and out.
