Matthew Thomas Hope – “September”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Matthew Thomas Hope’s song “September” from his forthcoming album. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Ryan Wilson, and mastered by Mike Cervantes at The Foxboro. It was recorded at Chief Records in Nashville and features art direction by Natalie Hope.
“September” is Matthew Thomas Hope on acoustic guitar, bass, and lead vocals; Chris Lippincott on pedal steel, electric guitar, and piano; Ryan Wilson on drums, banjo, and auxiliary instruments; and Natalie Hope on background vocals.
Pretty acoustic guitar and pedal steel open the song with the nostalgia of fall and the sense of winding down, and then, there’s the sense of painful loss captured so clearly. “Find our place / Beginning to the end / Septembers gone /A cool wind rushing in / Winters here / You had to leave / We’re nothing now but a memory /And I just want that feeling back again.”
“Fall has always been a season of reflection for me, and this song is my way of leaning into that,” Hope shares. “It’s about love, loss, and the ways we hold on to the people and moments that shape us.”
