Jason Sinay – “Play It Alone”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jason Sinay (formerly of the Dirty Knobs)’s song “Play It Alone” from his forthcoming album The Mountain. The Mountain was produced, recorded and mixed by Martin Pradler; recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles; and mastered by Richard Dodd.  Album illustration and design is courtesy of Don Phillips For KIHL Studios.

“Play It Alone” is Jason Sinay on vocals and guitar; Phil Parlapiano on keys, mandolin, and harmonica; Lance Morrison on bass; Matt Laug on drums; and Bruce Watson on guitar. Jason Sinay has a rich resume playing with some of heartland rock’s greatest heavyweights, for good reason, and this song lays out why.  With its gently sung vocals over electric riffs and rhythms, and the lament “some things you can’t fight but it’s all right… hope you understand someday, everybody’s got to play alone,” Jason continues the heartland rock legacy.

“Play It Alone” is about a falling out with a producer — a “complicated character with his own struggles” — after a snafu with a record label deal. It’s also about his internal weather post-Dirty Knobs. I needed to go and play alone and do my own thing, and have my own journey. It’s about leaving a situation unapologetically, but still saying, ‘Sorry you feel that way. I get it. – Jason Sinay
