Carley Arrowood – “This Mess We Made”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Carley Arrowood’s song (written by her sister Autumn Watson) “This Mess We Made.” This song will be part of Carley’s forthcoming album Colors, slated for release on March 29.  The album was produced by Jim VanCleve; recorded, mixed and mastered by Clay Miller at Crossroads Studios; with post production by: Clay Miller and Jeff Collins. Dolby Atmos ® mix was done by Scott Barnett at Crossroads Studio C, in Burbank, California.

“This Mess We Made” is Carley Arrowood on vocals; Daniel Thrailkill on acoustic guitar; Jeff Partin on dobro; and Tony Creasman on percussion. It’s such a joy just to listen to the beautiful acoustic guitar and hushed dobro, and then the song Carley’s honest vocals open into an honest story of commitment, and messy as it all is, ultimately “this life we made is a little sunshine in the rain… if I had to choose…I’d pick you and this mess we made.” Be grateful there are still songs like this.

“This Mess We Made” is an ode to the reality of young marriage—the raw struggles, the silent battles, and the unwavering commitment and prayer that holds it all together. My hope is that this song reaches down in the souls of those who struggle and replace this struggle with the joy that comes from the other side. This song is dedicated to my husband Paul—you make our ‘mess’ worthwhile. – Autumn Watson

Every bit of this song rings true. Marriage is hard, but a blessing, and to keep choosing the same person over and over is such a gift beyond words. Thank you, Autumn, for the rawness and realness you put forth here, and for allowing me to record it. I love you. – Carley Arrowood
