James Deely – Songs For A Irish Funeral

James Deely has a new album, Songs For A Irish Funeral, just released and available on BandCamp. The album was recorded in LA, Cackalacky County and Limerick Ireland.

Songs For A Irish Funeral opens with “A Harder Road,” which might even be a suprisingly heartfelt song, with harmonica and truly mournful vocals.  “Custom Blue” follows and your inclinations that this is a serious and emotional album are confirmed, with a little more electric guitar and the same element of solemnity.

“Heartbreaker Blue” adds some baritone to the mix as the song is beseeching you to keep on dancing.  “Running Back” picks up a little bit of a rockabilly shuffle: “you barely got time for me.”

“Remember When” is a nostalgic foray of youthful promises and adventures: “I remember when it was just me and you and a million dreams.”  “American Heart” is a song of a weary traveler and steps up with quite lovely harmonies on the chorus.

James Deely brings an element of Bruce Springsteen to the songs on this album.

Musicians on the album are James Deely, Johnny Waken, James Dalton Riley, and Paula Ryan on vocals.
