Mindy M Miller – “I Don’t Wanna Drink Whiskey”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Mindy M Miller’s song “I Don’t Wanna Drink Whiskey” from her forthcoming EP, which is due to be available next year. The EP was produced by Andy Peake, Patrick Gulley, and Mindy M Miller; and co-produced by Andy Peake.
“I Don’t Wanna Drink Whiskey” is Mindy on acoustic guitar and vocals; Andy Peake on drums; Mike Kenneth Ingram on bass; John England and Chris Leuzinger on lead guitars; Chris Leuzinger on baritone guitar; Patrick Gulley on pedal steel; and Michael Lusk on backing vocals.
Within this honky tonk setup, grit is a good word to describe the energy here, with the sentiment: “they say true colors show when the going gets tough.” Mindy shows her own true colors here in a brilliant rainbow. Moving on from something is a straight up act of heroism sometimes, and that’s what this is all about.
This has been a long awaited release and I am so thrilled to finally share it. I found these lyrics on an old notepad that I wrote over a decade before leaving a failed and hopeless marriage and finished it as a way of necessary closure. This song, for me, truly embodies independence and grit- I overcame a lot in life to get to this point and to be the person I am today and this song serves as my own personal badge of honor. I am so honored to have had a crew of outstanding and accomplished musicians make this song possible. There is a lot more to come! – Mindy M Miller
