Kerri Powers – “When It Rains”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Kerri Powers’ song “When It Rains,” from her forthcoming album Love Is Why.  The album was produced by Marco Giovino of Dagotown Recorders in Boston; engineered by Sam Margolis; mixed by Gus Berry onBerrytown Studios, and mastered by Tom Waltz.

“When It Rains” is Kerri Powers on vocals and acoustic guitar; Doug Lancio on electric guitars;
Bro Paul Brown on Hammond B3; Marty Ballou on upright bass; and Marco Giovino on drums. “I washed the mud off my boots and knocked on your door.  You slipped the lock and said don’t come see me no more.”  Kerri has a powerful gripping delivery that just oozes authenticity.  Her lyrics arranged in imagery and observations in the style of Bob Dylan.  Lots to enjoy and relate to.  “Love can’t take bloom in a place where it rains everyday.”  We agree.

Initially, I had no clue where this song came from. It revealed itself through me chasing the melody and working through the struggle of loving someone who is never happy or satisfied. I hope you enjoy it. – Kerry Powers
