Mae Simpson – “Cap Guns”

Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Mae Simpson’s song “Cap Guns” from her recently released album Chandelier & Bloom. The album was produced by Brian “Snowman” Powers, Jorgen Wadkins II and Amber Mae Simpson.  It was engineered by Tom Garneau, Brian Snowman Powers, and Jorgen Wadkins II; mixed by Brian “snowman” Powers; and mastered by Keith Kopatz. Album artwork was courtesy of Carolyn Adkins.

“Cap Guns” is Mae on vocals; Jorgen Wadkins on guitar; Aaron Silverstein on drums; David Kellermann on bass; Paul Pederson on trumpet; Ricardo Romero on percussion; and Brian Snowman Powers on saxophone.

This video was produced by Miranda Hobbs; directed by Krista Koester with assistance from Rowan Hanold.  Christopher Behnen was the director of photography with Keith Moechnig on assistant camera. Justin Meredith was the gaffer and Fiona Schmid was the  production assistant.

Cast in this video are Emma Lynch, Annabelle Layland, Carter Monahan, and Spencer LaCasse.  Afternoon lighting, grass going to seed, and a pack of kids on bikes — nostalgia captured in both the song and video. “I could wake up in a song to take me way back when.” Relax magically into the memories courtesy of Mae Simpson’s songwriting prowess.

“Nostalgia is what we tried to capture. A way to get back to being a kid again. Remembering to be in the moment. It’s What I love most because everyone can relate to Cap Guns.” Mae Simpson
