Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Sean Burns’ version of the Chef Adams song “Destroy Me,” from his recently released album Lost Country.  Lost Country was produced by Sean Burns with Grant Siemens. It was engineered and mixed by Chris Stringer. Lost Country was a continuation of Sean’s general project to preserve the legacy of country singers of Canada, and to play songs in their style.

“Destroy Me” is Sean Burns on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dennis Conn on lead guitar; Ted Hawkins on background vocals; Sean O’Grady on drums; Grant Siemens on guitar; Mike Weber on pedal steel; and Paul Weber on Fender bass.

This video was created by Cliff Brake Media. It was filmed and edited by Johnny Dee Watson at Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

It stars Mayor Matt Allen as Mr. Bottle of Booze, with the band: Sean, Kevin Bell, Ryan Menard, Joanna Miller, and Grant Siemens.  Check this out, it’s Canadian honky tonk at its finest, with videos of police sirens, snow-covered sidewalks, and, of course, a bottle of booze. All to cope with the self destruction of barroom relationships.

Destroy me you no good bottle of booze
Take a look at the life a woman made me choose
A man can take so much woman’s abuse
So I turn to my friend, Mr. bottle of booze

I’ve always considered myself much more of a performer than a songwriter. This project is the culmination of all the digging I did to find ‘lost’ music and artists while hosting my radio show ‘Boots & Saddle’ and my podcast The Northern Report. Hopefully it’s just the start of a larger body of work in the field of honky tonk preservation. All the greats released theme albums and that’s part of the country music tradition I’ve always loved. – Sean Burns
