Stephen Jacques – “Dreams on Fire”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Stephen Jacques’ song “Dreams on Fire” from his recently released album Groove Atlantic-O. Groove Atlantic-O was engineered and mixed by Steve Albini (Nirvana, PJ Harvey) in Electrical Audio, in Chicago Illinois. It was mastered by Chicago Mastering.
“Dreams on Fire” is Stephen on acoustic guitar, vocals, and lyrics; Jason Narducy (Bob Mould) on bass, acoustic and electric guitars; Chris Siebold on lap steel, acoustic and electric guitars; Vijay Tellis-Nayak on piano and keyboard; and Gerald Dowd on drums and percussion.
The video, with images of Stephen playing guitar along with other scenes of loneliness and being alone, was created by Mike Silverman of Silver Streak Media in Charlottesville Virginia. How do we relate to the pain others feel? This song addresses sympathy, empathy, and in the process of reminding us how to feel others pain, it summons a cathartic release of our own. Listen and find yourself wondering and relating.
“Dreams on Fire” touches upon pain and heartache, trying to understand the feeling and the emotions of love throughout the process. And when you cannot understand what others are going through in life. — Stephen Jacques
