Dean Zucchero — “American Dream”
Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Dean Zucchero’s song “American Dream” from his new album, Electric Church for the Spiritually Misguided, just out April 28th via Pugnacious Records. The album was produced and arranged by Dean Zucchero, and recorded and mixed by Jake Eckert at Rhythm Shack Studio in New Orleans. Mastering was done by Drew Lavyne at A.L.L. Digital Mastering.
The song “American Dream” was written by Dean Zucchero & Alexander Komadinovic is Jeremy Joyce on lead vocals and guitar; Dean Zucchero on bass; Doug Belote on drums; Phil Breen on organ; and Zeus Vee and Jeremy Joyce on backing vocals.
The video was directed and edited by Naomi Bessette. Grainy footage of easy looking backyard get-togethers, town hall dances and canoeing (in a button down shirt) and more 1950s imagery of the so-called American Dream ground this insightful song in a simplicity. “American Dream” explores a hope that love could be this simple, with the expectation that “she will be with me.” Could things ever be this easy? Listen and find out.
The rise of materialism and death of meritocracy forces our 21st century romantic to daydream of a collective time when love was affordable and attainable, and not the product of a modern-day auction block.
In the end “the guiding light finds its way” and Love prevails. Yet, is it real or just an American Dream? — Dean Zucchero
