Amanda Stewart — “Lonesome Mountain”

Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Amanda Stewart’s song “Lonesome Mountain” from her forthcoming album Venom, due to be released July 28.  Venom was produced and mixed by Tim Bruns, engineered by Jesse Thompson, and mastered by Voyager. The song was written by Elliott Blaufuss, Tabitha Meeks, and Amanda.

“Lonesome Mountain” is Tim Bruns on guitar, backing vocals, drums, mandolin and keys; Jesse Thomson on guitar and Amanda Stewart on vocals.

The video was directed by Neil Carlson; produced by Amanda Stewart and Neil Carlson with camera work and editing by Dead West Creations; with Loni Carr as PA and Caitlin Ross as Wrangler. It was filmed on Lone Mountain Ranch.

There’s something universally alluring about writing songs, reading a good book and playing guitar in front of a fireplace in the wee hours.  Amanda Stewart has a powerful voice that will not be denied.  This is a song of healing, with lines like “somewhere there’s a valley where the bitter root can grow, but no one gets off easy when the wind begins to blow.” Setting up horseback riding with a snowcapped mountain range behind you is the glorious symbolism to drive the expanse of real healing home.

I’ve been fortunate enough to play shows at Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky for several years (I consider it my second home) and they were kind enough to let me take advantage of the entire property for this video. Thank you Lone Mountain Ranch! It was important for me to shoot the video for this song there, because it’s where I first dove into playing music professionally. It’s where I got my start and where I’ve been inspired time after time, musically and spiritually. — Amanda Stewart
