Woodrow Hart & the Haymaker — “Misdirection in Dm”

Woodrow Hart

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Woodrow Hart & the Haymaker’s song “Misdirection in Dm,” from their forthcoming album Down in the Belly.  Down in the Belly was produced, recorded, and mixed by Nick Broste (The Handsome Family, Judson Claiborne, Angela James). It was mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering (The Replacements, Lucero, North Mississippi Allstars)

The vinyl LPs were pressed by Smashed Plastic in Chicago, IL.

“Misdirection in Dm” is Woodrow on vocals and acoustic guitar; Graham Stephenson on trumpet and piano; Benjamin Brundage on drums; Jacob Hand on bass; and Alexis Dionissopoulos on electric guitar with guest Rob Frye (Bitchin Bajas) on tenor saxophone.  This is music to take a deep dive into.  Layers of instruments and a foreboding from Hart’s vocals pull you into the mystery of his storytelling.

When I felt the need to disappear for a few days, I went to the Driftless region of Wisconsin. I found a little place miles away from everyone. The only water was from a natural spring up the hill. While there, I wrote “Misdirection in Dm” to celebrate my successful escape. – Woodrow Hart
