“Katy, lovely Katy, won’t you come with me my lady, to the land where all the rivers run with gold,”  and promises of warm winter fires and northern lights set the stage for this song.  The romantic lure of the gold rush in the Western Territories was strong, and Katy was at the reins.   Beautiful sepia tone imagery throughout the video creates a classic visual for the song.  The romantic beginning takes a turn toward harsh realism, with shotguns and the realization that the frontier wilderness was hard.  But the all the better for the strong woman Katy was, and the luck of having her by his side.  Such is this song of homage by Rusty Gear.

I wrote Katy’s Song as a tribute to the strong women who helped build this country and the strong women in my own family. — Rusty Gear
