Laura Zucker — “Autumn”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Laura Zucker’s song “Autumn,” from her forthcoming release Lifeline, due to be available in 2023. Lifeline was recorded and mixed by Ed Tree at The Treehouse in San Gabriel, CA; and mastered at Sienna Digital. The cover photo is by Cindy Patrick, with cover design by Bradley Silling.
“Autumn” is Laura Zucker on vocals and acoustic guitar; Ben Zucker on vibes; and Ed Tree on bass, acoustic and electric guitars. “Evening brought a chill along with the moon … leaves prepare surrender to the colors of the flame” and the image is immediately clear — there’s a turning, and soon winter will be here again. Such is the circle of life. This song hits home heavily, offering reflection about the passage of time and the cycles of life and the way it’s represented by seasons. But it’s really bringing a deep awareness of our own mortality. “Autumn” does that to a person.
Autumn is a time of year but also a time of life. It feels like the beginning of an end but also feels like an awakening, a sharpening of the senses, as time slows down and speeds up at the same time. — Laura Zucker
