Connor Garvey — “Water to the Well”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Connor Garvey’s song “Water to the Well,” from his forthcoming album Another End of the Year, due to be released on July 21. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Pete Morse at Red Vault Audio (South Portland, ME). http://www.redvaultaudio.com
“Water to the Well” is Connor Garvey on acoustic guitar and vocals; Pete Morse on electric guitar; Dan Boyden on percussion; Colin Winsor on bass; Ben Cosgrove on keys; and Sorcha Cribben-Merrill on vocals.
The video was produced by Herman Mantis (http://www.hermanmantis.com). The video captures the musicians playing live together and raw in the studio. Garvey’s music has an organic quality that slowly unfolds into its messages of hope of human blossoming in the midst of mundanity. The video, taken within the wooden studio walls, reflects the earthiness of the music itself, like the studio was made for this song. “I can’t make you love yourself like I do.”
In making the video for this song [“Water To The Well”] it was really important to me to capture the people I made this record with, who’ve been on this journey with me, IN the space where we worked on the songs, practiced, recorded, mixed, reviewed, and celebrated their completion and first launched them into the world. We placed the wood burn of the cover art in the space with us to truly capture as much of the process as we could. I watch this and I see every performance and moment from the journey and that’s important to me. There are a lot of ways to make a video but to me this captured who made the music and keeps the song as the central part of this experience. — Connor Garvey
