Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Dennis Johnson’s song “Revelation,” the title track from his forthcoming album due to be available on July 15. Revelation was produced by Johnson, recorded at Apollo Studios in Sacramento, CA; mixed and engineered by Chris Bell (The Eagles); and mastered by Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles.
“Revelation” is Dennis Johnson on slide guitar; Anton Fig on drums; Jonathan Stoyanoff on bass; and Bob Fridzema on keyboards. Dennis Johnson has built quite a reputation for slide guitar for himself, and this song displays perhaps the most thoughtful slide and the most gentle supportive keys you’ve heard. Taking a gamble that an instrumental song will convey the concept and experiential aspects of awakening, has paid off. Anyone who loves jam bands will also appreciate the call and response elements at play.
The song is a spiritual journey of the challenges of evolution. The good and bad times sometimes have purpose and put you on a better path. When we go through tough times, we often don’t understand why. But as time goes by, we understand the purpose. That is the revelation. — Dennis Johnson
