The Ballroom Thieves — “Shine”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of the Ballroom Thieves’ song “Shine,” which was produced and mixed by Jerry Streeter. “Shine” is Martin Earley on acoustic guitar and Calin Peters on vocals and cello. Gently arrangements characterize the Ballroom Thieves at their core. This song will ease its way far into the back recesses of your mind.
“Shine” is a traveling song we started writing before the Covid lockdown, when traveling was still one of our daily activities. It’s about lacking sleep while trying to keep up with the demands of our tour schedule. The hotel rooms all begin to look the same (no offense, Best Western), and you start to drift in and out of hazy twilight daydreams that often leave you wondering where you are in any given moment. Anyone who struggles with sleep for any reason knows this feeling well, but it can be difficult to put into words. We tried anyway, so we hope you enjoy our lullaby for insomniacs. — Martin Earley
