Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Kevin Coons’ song “Rattlesnake Canyon” from his forthcoming album. The album was produced by Coons, recorded in Southern California and Nashville; and mixed and mastered by Nate Bridges of High Noon Audio in Nashville.
“Rattlesnake Canyon” is Kevin on vocals, guitar, bass, and harmonica; and Dillon Napier (Margo Price band) on drums. Sometimes in life it’s about survival. And Kevin Coons captured that feeling in song, using mad rock chops just like Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
The song “Rattlesnake Canyon” was inspired by the feeling of going on a hike just before dusk and trying to make it back before everything is completely dark. Musically, the goal was to create a song that would fit in with the Light in the Attic “Country Funk” compilation series, combined with guitar leads that are inspired by Neil Young and Crazy Horse at their noisiest. — Kevin Coons
