The Twangtown Paramours — “Double Down on a Bad Thing”
Americana Highways presents this video premiere of the Twangtown Paramours’ song “Double Down on a Bad Thing,” the title track from their forthcoming album set for release in February 2022. Double Down on a Bad Thing was produced by Mike T. Lewis, mastered by Benny Quinn Mastering with album photography by Scott Simontacchi, and design by Mark Larson. This single will be available on October 15.
“Double Down on a Bad Thing” is MaryBeth Zamer on vocals; Mike T. Lewis on guitars, bass, keys, and vocals;
Shawn Pelton (Shawn Colvin, Rosanne Cash) on drums and percussion; with Dan Nigro on baritone and tenor sax and Vinnie Cutro on trumpet. Enjoy some boogie woogie and blues on this throwback 60s song about the desire to be bad (at least sometimes) that anyone can empathize with.
“Double Down on a Bad Thing” is the title track and goes right to the heart of what the upcoming album of the same name is all about – a retro early 1960s sound, a great catchy melody, a hard hitting groove, and a lot of fun. The tune features MaryBeth Zamer on vocals, Mike Lewis on guitar and bass, Shawn Pelton (from the “Saturday Night Live” band) on drums, Ed Alstrom (Donald Fagan, Leonard Bernstein, Odetta, and many, many others) on piano, and Dan Nigro and Vinnie Cutro (both from Smokey Joe’s Café) in a Memphis-sounding horn section.
The video was shot during pandemic lockdown by Mike and MaryBeth and wonderfully edited by the folks at Indiewoods. In this outlandish old Western movie gambling scenario, you’ll see Mike doubling down in two separate roles and betting everything he has, including his pants. — Mike Lewis
