Swamptooth — “Platinum Blonde”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Swamptooth’s song “Platinum Blonde” from their album B-Flat Earth, due to be released on September 17th. B-Flat Earth was produced and mixed by Matt Eckstine and Jay Rudd; engineered by Matt Eckstine and Stan Ray at the Wolling House in Metter, GA; and mastered by Ben Kesler. The album’s artwork and layout is courtesy of Lizzie Daiss, with photography by Kelly Roetto.
Swamptooth is Cory Chambers on guitar, bass, and vocals; Evan Rose on mandolin and vocals; Jay Rudd on guitar, bass, and vocals; Jimmy Wolling on banjo and sitar; and Vito Gutilla on fiddle. This song, like Swamptooth’s music in general is light, pretty and whimsical. They’ll have you singing along from the first verse.
Evan and I played a duo gig where a platinum blonde walked in right before a set break. In an effort to make Evan laugh, I wanted to write a chorus during the break to sing when we returned. It ended up being a nice homage from a Savannah band to the big art school in town and its students. — Cory Chambers
