Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Mike Donello’s song “Kayak in the Keys” from his forthcoming album, which was produced by Mike Donello and Studio 601, Austin.
“Kayak in the Keys” is Mike Donello on vocals, guitar, and ukulele; Eric Harrison on bass; Mike Ingber on drums;
Houston Rawls on saxophone; and Matt Creaton on guitar. Shed your limitations along with Mike Donello and allow yourself to be transported easily away on a kayak in the Keys. There’s something intrinsically comforting about the ukulele, and this song sounds like it was made just for the instrument.
“Kayak in the Keys” was one of the first songs I’d ever written fully on ukulele. It was also one of fhe easiest songs to write just based off pure experience. I actually started writing the tune on a Kayak in the Keys :). I was literally out on the water with a ukulele aboard swaying back and forth and along came the riff and the jist of a song. I had made an initial acoustic recording years ago but never actually got around to record it with a full band sound until now! Super excited to release the new single featuring ukulele and saxophone for a great paradise pairing. — Mike Donello
