Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Cole Scheifele’s song “Turn to You,” from his forthcoming album The Hideaways, due to be available on July 21. The Hideaways was produced by Bill Wysocki, engineered and mixed by Corban Roberts, and mastered by Davide Glasser. Musicians on the album are Cole Scheifele on guitar and vocals, Nick Gregory on electric guitar, Alex Goldberg on bass, Bill Wysocki on drums and percussion, Mike Lang on Helpinstill and organ, Hunter Burnette on electric guitar, and Emma Cole and Malena Roberts on vocals.
This is an easygoing, shuffle and a relatable familial sentiment of relief that there’s someone to turn to: “it’s best to turn to you.” Nicely done.
I wrote this song 3-4 years ago but it has evolved a lot since as songs tend to do. I like the meaning and idea of leaning on each other when all else seems to fail, I think we all need that sometimes. It was way faster initially and we ended up slowing it down quite a bit on the record and I love the way it feels now. It felt rushed before but I never noticed it, I just played it that way because it felt like a song to give my setlists some energy but I think it took away from it actually when I played it so quick. It feels way more in the groove to me now and I think it adds to that energy I was searching for with it. — Cole Scheifele
